I have had an electone since the age of 12 when my parents bought me my first one. Since then I have owned HS, EL and HX. My faviourite has to be my beloved EL900i. It is just a shame that most of my friends are changing to keyboards.
I have a PSR9000 and enjoy playing my organ more than any keyboard. Does anyone know if Yamaha will be bringing the new Stagea organ to the UK as I would love one.

Andrew.

Great website by the way - well done.

[PERSONAL PROFILE]
I have been the organist at the First Century Gospel Church in Philadelphia since 1973 (and am now 65). I have had some formal instruction but most has been learned by just reading, listening, and playing. I love sacred music contemporary Christian songs of all styles and types.
I am currently using a Yamaha EL-90 Electone at home (and there is one at church also). After owning various electronic organs over the years (Conn Theatre, Lowrey MX-1, Allen TC-3 and others) I now love the digital Yamaha Electone. I have been playing modern Christian praise music recently, such as: Above All, Here I Am to Worship, In Christ Alone, Redeemer [Nicole C. Mullen], My Father’s Heart [Rachael Lampa], Agnus Dei [Third Day], Great Is the Lord [Michael W. Smith], etc.
The EL-90 Electone is a fabulous instrument that allows full control of the voices and effects. It has 49-note keyboards and a 20-note pedalboard. The organ is very compact and small but packs a huge sound. Although the built-in speakers are small, it has adequate bass response and gives a full rich sound to organ tones. The bass reflect cabinet housing the speakers was designed right. The EL-90 includes just about everything an organist would want. There are very few other models to compare to it.
The ELX-1 is a full console and is the only step beyond the EL-90 (other than the newer EL-900 or Stagea which are difficult to locate). I’m sure there are Technics, Rolands, and Kawai (digital) organs that would be comparable to the Yamaha Electones, but the price would be much higher.
I have a CD I recorded using the Yamaha Electone EL-90 as a MIDI controller and keying three Roland D-110 Theatre Organ Modules. The CD is titled ‘Theatre Stylings of Inspiration.’ The voices are from the RTOM modules and the Electone is supplying the pedal sounds. The CD is free to anyone requesting one. Email or write to:

I have an EL90 which has been a faithful workhorse for over nearly 20 years in my work as a teacher and musician for amateur theatre. However even though I still have my EL90 I have replaced it with a Yamaha Stagea ELS-01C and it is such a different instrument with some truly amazing sounds. Check out my web site for details.
